NYPD Announces Heightened Security Near Madison Square Garden

(MENAFN) The New York Police Department (NYPD) announced enhanced security measures on Saturday around Madison Square Garden (MSG) due to multiple major events taking place in and near the venue.

Authorities urged the public to arrive early and avoid bringing bags, as additional screening procedures will be in place.

According to the NYPD, a secured perimeter will be established starting at 4 p.m. local time, with all attendees required to pass through security checkpoints before entering the area. In a statement shared on US social media platform X, the department said, “Tonight is a big night for NYC, and we want everyone to have fun and be safe.”

Officials noted that several large-scale events are scheduled in the vicinity of MSG and said the same security zone used during previous high-traffic events will be implemented again. “Everyone will be screened. Get there early and leave bags at home,” the NYPD added.

The increased security comes as New York prepares for events including a concert by the band 5 Seconds of Summer and a FIFA match between Brazil and Morocco taking place on Saturday.
