NYPD Locks Down MSG Zone for Multiple Major Events

(MENAFN) The New York Police Department (NYPD) announced sweeping security measures Saturday surrounding Madison Square Garden (MSG) and its surrounding area, urging the public to plan ahead as the city braces for a packed evening of major events.

A secured perimeter will take effect at 4 pm ET (2000GMT), with every individual entering the zone required to pass through security screening, the NYPD confirmed.

"Tonight is a big night for NYC, and we want everyone to have fun and be safe," the department said on X, the US-based social media platform.

Officials emphasized that "there will be multiple major events in and around MSG," adding that authorities would enforce "the same secure zone" deployed at previous high-profile gatherings in the city.

"Everyone will be screened. Get there early and leave bags at home," the NYPD added.

The heightened measures come as New York City prepares to host two marquee events simultaneously — a concert by pop-rock act 5 Seconds of Summer and a high-stakes FIFA World Cup clash between Brazil and Morocco, both scheduled for Saturday.
